Information
Crackers Meadow Rules
1. Membership of the syndicate is by annual invitation of Jane & Nigel Roberts and may be terminated at any time by their decision. (The season runs from April 1st to March 31st). Rule breaking or any bad behaviour will bring instant expulsion without refund, the decision of the owner being the final in all cases.
2. Maximum of three rods per angler from February to November (inclusive) and a maximum of four rods for the months of December & January.
3. All anglers to exercise the greatest possible care of our fish at all times. A mat with reasonable sides are to be used, which must have a thickness of over 40mm. (There are a couple of suitable mats in particular on the market that we always suggest). Metal framed cradles are forbidden unless stated otherwise. Under no circumstances should any fish be held in a sack. Retainers can be used for only a maximum of 20 minutes. This applies to both night and daylight conditions, the fishes wellbeing is of paramount importance meaning any fish should have a good water exchange and be kept in no less than 4ft of water. All fish should be unhooked in the water before removal. Tripods are a must (for ease and when handling big fish alone these are a necessity for accurate weighing).
4. All particle baits are not allowed from April the 1st until November the 1st. (This means boilies and pellet only). Outside of these dates they must be fully cooked! Uncooked or ‘soaked only’ particles are a danger to the fish and must not be used under any circumstances. All nuts are banned!
5. No “bent hooks” (curved hooks are permitted), no fixed leads and no leadcore or leaders of any type meaning its tubing only. No naked chods due to possible fish damage.
6. No litter (including cigarette ends). Any anglers found with litter in their swim whilst fishing or after they have left will be banned. This is irrespective of whether the angler deposits the litter or not.
7. No cutting or removing of reeds, bushes, trees, etc.
8. Removal or introduction of fish strictly prohibited, except within these rules. (No live baits to be brought onto the property from outside).
9. One non-fishing guest at a time, no pets, guns or fires.
10. Fishing guest sessions are permitted and they must be booked and paid for in advance (guest sessions cannot be booked for May or September). A guest ticket costs £100 per session and it is the member’s responsibility that their guest abides by all rules, this payment will need to be paid for in advance. The maximum length of a session for a guest is three days and nights and there are no concessions.
11. The owners or any private guests of theirs, reserve the right to fish at any time. They also reserve the right to close the lake at any time they think fit and prior notice will be given wherever possible.
12. Fishing is carried out entirely at the angler’s own risk and the owners accept no responsibility for any accidents or damage that might occur on the property.
13. The owners reserve the right to amend these rules, or add new ones, at any time prior to notice.
14. The weights of all carp are to be recorded in the logbook. All carp caught must be photographed on each side. (Lying on an unhooking matt will suffice). These photos must then be sent over along with the weight and date within 4 weeks of capture.
15. The reserving of swims for other members or guests is not allowed. Leaving tackle in swims to reserve them for yourself for long periods whilst you are away is also not allowed. Short periods of up to a maximum of 2 hours is acceptable if you need to leave the lake during a fishing session. But if you are away any longer, your tackle must be completely removed well away from the swim, so it can be fished by someone else.
16. The maximum length of a session is three days and nights (72 hours), after which time you must not return to the site within 72 hours (three days and nights). If you fish 3 nights over the course of say 4-5-6 days then it is not acceptable to return within 72 hours. (If you work off the basis that you shouldn’t be fishing any more than 4 nights at the very most in 1 week then you shouldn’t go far wrong). For the months of November, December, January and February, the maximum length of a session is four days and nights (96 hours).
17. All gates to be closed and properly locked at all times.
18. Members should act as bailiffs where necessary and challenge anyone on the lake whom they suspect are not members. Any presence of non-members or even any (suspicious) rule breaking must be reported to the owners as soon as possible. If we are not aware of these things then we are unable to act on them, and that goes for anything and everything, ultimately for the well-being of the fishery.
19. Rods must be fished from the same swim only and not spread along the bank.
20. Members must not forget their etiquette and show the maximum possible respect to other members by being considerate and courteous at all times.
21. The use of rowing boats is not permitted. Bait boats are not allowed for most of the year, but can be used in the three months of December, January and February.
22. Unless you are fishing along the river bank, Cars are to be parked in the two designated car parks only and not taken onto the east bank (field side).
Please note that Crackers members are not allowed access over to Ringstead Lake (except for the Causeway Swim for access to the wooden shed) unless invited to do so by a member.
